Senior Governance Risk & Compliance Business Partner

Our government client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Governance, Risk & Compliance Business Partner to lead governance, risk and assurance functions within a dynamic public sector agency.

YOU | Bring your strategic thinking, policy acumen, and risk management expertise to this high-impact role within a forward-thinking South Australian Government agency. You are a natural problem solver with a strong understanding of audit, assurance and compliance frameworks and a proven ability to provide trusted advice at the executive level. You will also bring:

• Proven experience in governance, risk and compliance in a complex organisation
• Demonstrated ability to influence and engage with executive stakeholders and drive a strong culture of accountability and risk awareness
• In-depth knowledge of risk management standards (e.g., ISO 31000) and protective security frameworks
• Strong analytical, policy development, and report writing skills
• Knowledge of public sector legislative obligations, including FOI, protective security and internal audit processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for a variety of audiences

THE ROLE | As the Senior Governance, Risk & Compliance Business Partner, you will report to the Director, People & Performance, and play a central role in embedding strong governance and risk practices across the agency. You’ll lead policy development, risk and compliance initiatives, coordinate internal audit planning and delivery, and ensure regulatory and legislative obligations are met. Your ability to influence, support, and uplift the maturity of risk and compliance functions will be key to your success. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the development, review and implementation of governance, risk and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures
• Act as the organisation’s Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer and manage FOI requests under the FOI Act 1991
• Develop and deliver a risk-based Internal Audit Plan in collaboration with Board sub-committees
• Provide high-level strategic advice to senior leadership on emerging risks, compliance gaps and assurance outcomes
• Support a strong internal culture of risk accountability and process improvement
• Oversee the Protective Security Framework and ensure compliance with relevant state security policies
• Build strong relationships across the organisation and with key external stakeholders
