Systems Engineer
Our government client is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to enhance the performance, integration, and delivery of critical water and wastewater infrastructure across South Australia. This is a 12-month contract role based in Adelaide’s CBD, within the Sustainable Infrastructure business group.
YOU |Bring your systems thinking, analytical mindset, and collaborative approach to this exciting opportunity within a key South Australian Government agency. As a Systems Engineer, you’ll apply structured engineering principles to optimise the design, integration, and lifecycle management of SA Water’s assets. You will also bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field – Essential
Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles to complex infrastructure or utility projects – Essential
Strong understanding of systems integration, requirements management, and lifecycle engineering – Essential
Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements – Essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using data-driven approaches – Essential
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills – Essential
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering tools – Desirable
Project management experience or certification – Desirable
THE ROLE |As Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in improving the way water and wastewater infrastructure is designed, integrated, and operated. You will introduce and embed systems engineering practices across projects to deliver smarter, safer, and more efficient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Applying structured systems engineering methodologies to optimise design and lifecycle management.
Developing and refining engineering processes to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce costs.
Supporting multi-disciplinary project teams in adopting systems engineering practices.
Using data analytics and system modelling to inform design decisions and improve asset performance.
Ensuring compliance with Safety in Design (SID) and Sustainability in Design (SuiD) standards.
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure systems engineering principles are effectively applied throughout project delivery.
Supporting a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Engineering division.
