Senior Mechanical Engineer | Adelaide CBD, SA

Join a dynamic Government Agency in Adelaide CBD as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month opportunity, contributing to the delivery of critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects across South Australia.

YOU | Bring your strong mechanical engineering expertise and proven experience in the water sector to a collaborative and high-performing Engineering team. You will also bring:
• Accredited Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
• Demonstrated experience within the water industry, ideally across pipelines, pump stations and water treatment plants.
• Wastewater experience highly regarded.
• Proven capability in the design and specification of mechanical components, including: Pumps, Valves and Filtration systems
• Strong hydraulic knowledge, particularly relating to: Pump selection, surge modelling and mitigation and sizing of surge vessels, pressure safety valves (PSVs) and pressure reducing valves (PRVs)
• Ability to apply engineering standards, design criteria and risk-based thinking to complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

THE ROLE | Act as a senior technical specialist providing mechanical engineering leadership across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Lead the mechanical design and specification of assets across pump stations, pipelines and treatment facilities.
• Provide expert input into pump system design, surge analysis and pressure management strategies.
• Collaborate with hydraulic, electrical and civil engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient design outcomes.
• Review technical documentation, drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with standards and best practice.
• Support project delivery through sound technical advice, cost awareness and effective change management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
