Join a dynamic South Australian Government agency in Adelaide CBD as a Senior Civil Engineer for a 12-month opportunity, working on critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support sustainable communities across South Australia.

YOU | Bring your strong civil engineering expertise and deep understanding of the water and wastewater sector to a collaborative and technically driven engineering team. You will also bring:
• Proven experience in civil engineering design within the water industry
• Strong capability in investigation, concept, option and detailed design of water and wastewater infrastructure
• High-level knowledge of civil engineering procedures and practices in large infrastructure environments
• Experience in wastewater and water infrastructure including pipelines, treatment systems and associated assets
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex engineering investigations and design solutions
• Strong understanding of Safety in Design (SiD) and whole-of-life asset risk management
• Experience reviewing, auditing and validating engineering designs prepared by others
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal teams, consultants and contractors
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering environments
• Commitment to technical excellence, compliance and continuous improvement
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia (desirable)
• Mechanical engineering experience may be transferable where supported by strong civil/water sector experience

THE ROLE | Act as a senior technical specialist providing civil engineering expertise across the planning, design, review and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Provide specialist investigation, design and technical auditing of civil infrastructure projects
• Deliver high-quality engineering solutions within time, cost and compliance requirements
• Support Safety in Design (SiD) processes across all project stages and asset lifecycle phases
• Develop, review and validate civil and hydraulic design outcomes for water and wastewater systems
• Contribute to technical standards, guidelines and engineering governance frameworks
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including asset management, operations, delivery and external partners
• Provide technical advice on materials selection, infrastructure design and system performance
• Undertake engineering reviews, audits and assessments of complex infrastructure solutions
• Support innovation, continuous improvement and adoption of emerging engineering practices
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational, regulatory and industry requirements
