Operational Systems & Procedure Officer | Berri, SA

Join a leading South Australian Government organisation as an Operational Systems & Procedure Officer within Water Treatment Operations, supporting the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of operational systems, procedures and documentation that enable safe, reliable and efficient water treatment services across South Australia.

YOU | Bring your strong technical writing skills, operational documentation experience and ability to translate practical plant knowledge into clear and effective procedures. You will also bring:
• Strong experience developing, reviewing and maintaining operational procedures, SOPs, work instructions and operational guidance documents
• Demonstrated ability to interpret operational processes and workflows and translate them into practical documentation
• Strong technical writing and document development capability
• Experience supporting operational teams through procedure development, validation and implementation activities
• Ability to collaborate with operators, coordinators and technical stakeholders to ensure documentation reflects real-world operations
• Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work independently with limited direction while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Experience supporting document control, version management and review processes
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Experience developing troubleshooting guides, quick reference materials and operational training resources
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across operational, technical and stakeholder groups
• Current driver’s licence (essential)
• Experience within water treatment, utilities, manufacturing or operational environments will be highly regarded

THE ROLE | Develop, maintain and improve operational systems, procedures and documentation to support safe and efficient water treatment operations.
• Develop, review and maintain operational procedures, SOPs, work instructions and operational guidance materials
• Create startup, shutdown, isolation and troubleshooting procedures for treatment plant assets and systems
• Translate operational knowledge and plant practices into standardised and controlled documentation
• Work closely with operators and technical teams to validate procedures and ensure they reflect actual plant operations
• Support implementation of new operational systems, plant modifications and process improvements through documentation updates
• Develop quick reference guides, alarm response guides and troubleshooting tools to support operational teams
• Maintain document control, version tracking and review schedules for operational procedures
• Support audits and ensure documentation aligns with operational, regulatory and quality requirements
• Assist with operational training materials and knowledge-sharing resources
• Capture operational knowledge to support capability development and succession planning
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across water treatment operations
• Participate in operational reviews, workshops and field activities to maintain technical understanding of treatment processes
