ASO2 Customer Service Officer | Adelaide

We are seeking an experienced customer service professional to join a South Australian Government department as a Customer Service Officer on a short term temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support members of the community, including people who may be vulnerable, distressed or experiencing difficulties with decision-making.

YOU | Bring your customer service experience, strong communication skills and genuine passion for helping others to this rewarding opportunity. You are calm under pressure, empathetic and confident dealing with a diverse range of customers, including those who may be experiencing challenging circumstances. Ideally, you will also bring:
• Previous experience in a customer service, contact centre or administration environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to listen, understand and respond appropriately to customer needs
• Confidence dealing with difficult, distressed or challenging customers in a calm and professional manner
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when managing confidential and sensitive information
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
• The ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
• A genuine commitment to providing respectful, inclusive and high-quality customer service
• Previous government or community services experience will be highly regarded
THE ROLE | As a Customer Service Officer, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public, providing professional and compassionate support via phone and reception. You will respond to enquiries, provide accurate information, refer matters to the appropriate team and escalate complex or sensitive situations when required.
The role also involves a range of administration responsibilities, including managing correspondence and client files, maintaining accurate database records, processing enquiries and complaints, supporting mail and document management, and assisting with general office coordination. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure customers receive timely and appropriate support.
